As the northern part of the world inches towards Winter there is a trend beginning to emerge that I am seriously loving. Velvet, in particular velvet pants, has featured on the catwalks of some of the most elite brands; Balmain, Gucci & Isabel Marant – just to name a few.
I myself am drawn to the a trouser style cut and, like the Balmain trousers I used in this set, the bigger the flare the better. I prefer to keep the rest of the outfit crisp & clean but the velvet texture lends itself well to hippy/boho looks as well (perfect for Aussies who want to rock this look through Summer). D

So I’m not finished with the grunge trend just yet..
Yep, now its time to talk about the humble Flannel Shirt. As I mentioned in a previous post, the flanno shirt is certainly not restricted to the Grunge scene and I’ll have plenty more to say on the subject over the next couple of weeks.
For now, I thought I’d share this look with you all and I’ll also mention that this particular shirt, which is super comfy (I have one in black of course!) is on sale right now through General Pants
for only $40! Get on it!
The first key piece that every Grunge inspired wardrobe will need this season is the Army Jacket.
I’m sure by now you would have noticed that these jackets are EVERYWHERE right now, which gives you plenty of options for rocking this look, some of the best I’ve found so far:
How I’d wear it?
So whether you go for an authentic jacket from a surplus store, or an army inspired parka, anorak or trench my advice on how to rock is it simple: buy it big, team it with a comfy pair of jeans in a light wash and add a mean pair of biker boots. Keep it Grunge by adding your oldest t-shirt and beanie and your done:
I will actually be posting my own Army Jacket outfit very soon (just sorting out a few camera issues atm) and I’ll be posting on Lookbook too so follow, follow, follow!
